Florina apples

The tree is strong growing. The variety is a good pollinator. It is pollinated by Granny Smith, Jonathan and Golden Superior. It is sensitive to scab and slightly sensitive to powdery mildew. The fruits reach harvest maturity in the first ten days of October.

This apple variety was imported to Bulgaria from America more than 35 years ago. A strong-growing tree, with high fertility. Flowering is late and abundant. Pollinators are: Gala, Fuji, Golden Superb, Granny Smith and others. Ripens in the second decade of September.

Gala Dark Baron® apples are characterized by intense red-purple color during the harvest period. Already one month before the harvest, the fruits are colored in a distinctive color. Stalks, like fruits, have a red color. The shape of apples is spherical, very similar to the standard Gala variety. • Growth – middle-weak • Flowering- 2/3 days before Golden Delicious. • Yield – very good. • Alternative bearing – not reported/observed. • Harvest period – begin of August.
